About me

I'm a documentary maker and amateur gardener trying to grow my own fruit, veg, and flowers on a council estate in London - with varying amounts of success. I started gardening after growing a bumper crop of tomatoes out of a home-made planter made from pallets. I didn't know then that it was one of the hottest years on record (and have never had such a good crop since!). But by then it was too late, and I've been growing my own food in the heart of London ever since. More recently I've developed a mildly obsessive interest in ornamental perrenials.

This blog is a collection of my photos, and thoughts - mostly garden-related, but sometimes not. I update it as often as I can, but my day job as a TV producer often gets in the way.

I started this blog simply because I love this garden. Even with its estate playground out back filled with kids competing for ASBOs. Even with soil so heavy you could use it to make pots. It's a bit of land to grow stuff. And that's all I've ever really wanted.

Any advice or tips gleaned from this blog should be taken with a large pinch of salt, as although I'm slightly addicted to reading gardening books, I've an awful lot to learn, and I'm very frequently proved wrong.
